June 17th '08 : Mt. Hutt Opening Day - A photo gallery by Jake Mein

17th June 2008

I'll be honest I wasnt expecting much. After such a promising week leading up to Mt Hutt's opening, it was hammered by a freakish warm front that came across from Australia, figures.

But coming round the saddle completely dissolved any worries about snow coverage. Mt Hutt is doing a lot better than most mountains open right now and for the first time ever we were able to ride from the top from the first run.

After a few warm up runs we checked out the new mini terraces dubbed the High Country Park. For the amount of snow left the terrain park crew have done well. Butter Box, flat rail, flat box and a mini jump kept the park rats happy.

Cant wait to see what the new park designer Jonahs David has in store for the rest of the hill. Big things happening at Mt Hutt, go up and check it out.

Huge thanks to Dave Wilson and Mt. Hutt.
