Apr 9th '09 - The Burton Snowboards Throw Down presented by Underground Skate

On Saturday the 18th of April, Burton in association with Underground Skate is going to turn North harbour stadium into a spectacle of snowboarding not scene in the Auckland region before. The Throw down is part of the huge action sport and music event called Roller Coaster 09 held at the stadium that is free to the public, yes free so come on down.
The event is a rail jam with progression and fun being the main aim of the event, to really make sure the riders throw down and leave it all on the run out to the rails supplied by Snow Planet and Romain industries. There is also a major prize of $1000 up for grabs to the best trick for the night
The Throw Down will start with rider registration at 3:30pm and the main event taking shape at 5pm and running through the night to an 8pm prize giving. There will be 30 competitors with 15 invited riders and 15 wildcard slots open to those who want to step it up on the day, be there early though as its first come, first in.
Joel from Burton said, We are very excited to add a unique competition to the Roller Coaster 09 event at the Stadium, and showcase with the help of Underground Skate and Snow Planet the development of such a fun sport in surroundings not normally associated with Snowboarding, this really is going to be awesome to watch.
The entry fee to compete is $20 on the day (cash only), and free for the spectators. The format will consist of a Jam format followed by a cut down field for the semi final and finals. There will be spot prizes for both competitor and spectators who attend and obviously a great line up of music and action to be seen.
