Aug 21st '09 - Casio Exilim Presented ‘Through the Eyes of Anon,’ A Photographic Journey
21st August 2009
The New Zealand Burton Open not only showcased the best snowboarding in the world, but also brought some of snowboardings best photographers in the world together.

Casio Exilim and Anon Optics joined forces to create a unique event where these photographers behind the lenses took centre stage for one night only to exhibit the amazing art of snowboard photography and its culture.
The Lake Wanaka Centre offered plenty of space to exhibit some of the worlds best snowboarding shots from photographers like Dean Blotto Grey, Jeff Curtes and Adam Moran. New Zealand photography legends like Tim Pierce, Sam Britten, Vaughan Brookfields, Anneka Stewart and Jeremy Thorns were well represented with shots that consistently grace the pages of top New Zealand publications.

The doors opened at 8pm and a red carpet lead partygoers to a sampling of Anon sunglasses and goggles where they could try on and get shots taken by the paparazzi in attendance and if the picture made it to the big screen later in the night they won a free pair of Anons.
From there, visitors were treated to two floors of artwork and a slide show on the main screen featuring the Best of NZSnowboarder Magazine, narrated by Editor Dylan Butt and local MC Zinnie.

Reuben Yeoman, New Zealand Open Director had this to say of the event, It was great to see the talent be showcased during what is the pinnacle of snowboarding events here in New Zealand, and such a laugh looking back at the history of the magazine throughout the night.
All the work was up for sale, with multiple pieces selling during the night. All the proceeds went directly to the photographers with no commission fees. Many pieces were very accessible with some starting at as little as $20 and ranging up to $500.
The night was a great success with the artists stoked that they could display their work during New Zealands biggest snowboard event, the Burton New Zealand Open. If you missed out, dont worry theres always next year.
