22nd March 2010

Day three of the Burton US Open Slopestyle was another scorcher. warmer than the last two even. It was semi's and finals for men's and woman's Slopestyle.

The course was real good, the snow nice and fast and the lips hard and landings soft it doesn't get much better. The semi's was crazy - I landed my first run which wasn't too bad. A  switch back 7 - cab 9 - front 9 and after the first runs I was in 20th.

The level was insane, lots of backside doublecorks and a ten was pretty much standard in every run. I fell on my second run and ended up in 24th which I actually wasn't that unhappy with. The top 16 went to the final and with 3 trys to get there runs sorted - the finalists went nuts. Mikkel Bang scoring highest in the first runs with cab 7-switch back 12-and front 10 all with his amazing style.

The rest of the runs were crazy too, so many runs that were so good and not even be in the top 5. Chas with back to back 12's getting 5th. It was Mikkel's day scoring 98 out of 100 on his second run, the guy is amazing.

All the girls from semi's went into one final, NZ's Shelly Gotlieb after falling on her first two runs laid down and epic run cab 5-backflip-back 7 combo getting her second place.  An amazing result and netting her a nice wad of cash.
