Riding Day 1
Our tight crew went exploring to find some new places that have never been shredded before in the southern lakes region. It was a huge day and totally worth it.
Before we started the whole 'Sled to the Summit' series we had A LOT of doubters saying there wouldn't be anywhere to go, it wouldn't be high enough blah blah blah. Well, after one day in the back country we can say with 100% certainty that there is SOOOO much to do and we have only just scratched the surface.
This season is GONNA BE EPIC!

The mist and clouds were around as the day started

And we got told there was 'Not that much terrain'.... Pffftt!

More exploring with Tama and Scotty

This would have to be one of the most spectacular views in Aotearoa - HANDS DOWN!

More and more scoping on Day 1

We scoped A LOT!

This is the start of a zone me and Pablo named '7th Heaven'

Terrain for days

We wanted to finally do a few turns so boosted to a hidden valley

Finally some pre season pow turns as Holler 'ghost ride's' his sled. What is 'ghost riding'? It's when you take your brake off your sled and let it boost down the hill by itself with no one driving. You then shred along next to it and try not get run over. ahha.

A mellow shifty as both the sled and Robett Hollis boost to the valley floor
What is the 'Sled to the Summit' Project?
NZsnowboard.com
Founder
Robett Hollis and
photographer Pablo Azocar
will
be documenting experiences accessing new places to snowboard in
Aotearoa through the use of snowmobiles.
To accomplish this they
will be using 2 snowmobiles which have been shipped from the USA to New
Zealand, and along with 4x4 trucks to take the snowmobiles they will go
in the search for new snow and terrain.
