I recently bought all my snow boarding gear from Snow Centre, snowboard was great so was the boots and so was the awesome guy that sold both to me, BUT and this is a big BUT, when it came time for me to go back and get my custom molded inner soles for my boots:
A: The guy that was dealing with me clearly didn?t know what he was doing and had to keep going over to his work mate to check weather he was doing them right, this was then followed by stuffing up one foot and having to re mold it and do it again!! (Pain in the ass for me).
B. After a weeks wait I finally go and pick up my boots, I also brought in my snowboard because another guy that worked there the day I got them heat molded told me to because he wanted to adjust my bindings and see what best suited me etc.. BUT when I got back there they had no idea what I was talking about!! Lugging a Snowboard from Orewa to New Market for no reason pfft!!
C. Finally the guy brings me my boots doesn?t even ask me to try them on first to see if there alright just hands them to me and says see you later!!!
D. yes I finally get to Snow Planet to try them out, I get to the top of the hill and discover this unbearable pain in my right foot at the top of the hill I have no choice but to take my boot of and contemplate walking back down the hill and looking like a retard, there was a waist of my day pass because I certainly couldn?t board with this amount of pain from the boots.
E. I bump into a guy from a ski and snow shop that is located in takapuna, (he was at snow planet) he could see the pain I was in and told me to come to his shop and he would re mold them and find out what the prob was, so I did and when I got there I took out my inner-soles and to the shop workers that were there, were horrified at the SHOTTY WORKMANSHIP of the inner-soles not to mention a Black rubber attached to the bottom of them which was uneven and unattractive as well as to find the inner-soles had been untidily cut, so they ripped the black stuff off and after trying to convincing me (unsuccessfully) to take them back and get a refund, (I wouldn?t go back there again too much hassle, and to far to travel), any way they reheated and molded them for me whipped them in my boots. I have now used them over four times and I have had absolutely no pain what so ever, and they only charged me $10 BUCKS.
Has anyone ever had this problem with snow centre and I wonder as the company gets bigger and they open more shops that they don?t pay as much attention to the staff they hire and the training they give, because I certainly think they need to pay more attention.
Thanks for reading my long post!!

Ballistics are usually pretty good, havn't bought any snowboarding equipment from them but they seem like they know what their doing, they've been good with the wakeboarding equipment they've sold me and some of them are boarders themselves. Next time I buy some new equipment I'll stay clear of Snow Centre I guess.

Didnt someone post this exact same thing around a year ago? (boots brought from snow centre, went up to snowplanet, dude from Taka store helped me out and remoulded my boots) I swear someone posted this last year but did'nt name names. Ballistics staff must just chill at snowplanet 24/7 waiting for people in pain! Ive always found Ballistics to be good but got a board from snow centre a few years ago and found them helpful too! I reckon it really comes down to the staff you get on the day, Alta in Qtown is a good example of this, i love the shop and there is some great staff but some real drongo's aswell.

Shit, get into Us and go see Adam. All of the boys and even the wee lady all shred, skate, surf, get behind a boat, etc. Can't go wrong with that?
Adam is the king of shitty boots after many a mere and so from his experience can give you the low down on all boot related problems pretty much.
Walk in and he'll be the steezy cat behind the desk probably flicking through the latest NZ Snowboarder.
Represent US!

Even though this is old I will add to it =)
I have pretty much visited all the Auckland Snow Shops looking for gears, i started boarding last season so went and checked out all the shops i could to find a bargin.
Out of all the shops US is by far my fav, good people good service and honest, they are there to help you and they make people want to come back, we buy as much as we can from them.
I find the snow centers are too commercial and don’t tend to pay as much attention to the customers, they just want sales not relationships.
Go the locally owned shops!!!

Haha, we tried that once but no. I'm already here for the season and the boys will be down later. Holding it down for the crew til they land. Mountain every weekend otherwise. SnowPlanet sucks some serious nuts.

here's an idea kids.....go to a shop which is actually within 60 minutes of the snow!!! Staff are generally onto it cos they ride on days other than Sunday, and areas where the only roof is the sky!!! Hope you enjoy your life that is Auckland this winter!!

Go Ballistics if you're on the shore!,
Was eyeing up the new '09 Custom X ICS and well snow centre didn't really want to know, even with numerous emails, phone calls and popping into their new market/snowplanet shop....with the short answer of 'I want one'.......Ballistics - on the shop floor, hooked up nice and tight, great guys/gals to deal with and nothing's too hard!
Bring on the snow!

Yeah Ball-sac-tics are a rad bunch of dudes but unfortunately having just unveiled their new store, their star storeman decided to up and leave with me escaping down here to the chilly shores of W-town.
He is now set up in Base and doing a mighty fine job by the sounds of things.

Sounds painfully similar to what happened to me at R&R once(God only knows how I ended up in there!). Some total nugget did a number on me, boot fitted me all wrong, I ended up going back the next day to get boot fitted by a really decent lady who knew her stuff.
I think its down to staff really, your at a disadvantage as a beginner or newbie because your at the mercy of these guys supposed 'knowledge'.
Ive learned heaps in the last few years. I ended up at Ballistics and Cityboards who will actually sort you out and tell you what gear is solid.City boards are way friendlier.......
(BTW Burton boots suck giant sweaty ball-sacks...their stitching is made from dental floss).
