It costs the same amount of money for a female to buy a plane ticket, a lift pass, a snowboard set up, a doctor/physio bill - so why are we offered less money in contracts and prizepools than the guys??? It's 2008 - not 1908!!!
I think it's time for a change in attitude!!
I'd like to hear the reasonings behind the executive decisions on why female riders get less dollars than the guys!

More people want to watch guys ride so they generate more exposure and money so that is why the prizes are more. Stink but thats life. I am all for equal prize money though.

Yeah it all comes down to the marketing and what the event/rider is worth as a dollar value. Ultimately the pinnacle of the sport in any sport is going to be worth the most dollars and generate the most exposure.. i dont think it is a sexist decision, more of a financial decision. It would be nice for a brand/event to throw a massive sum of money at womens snowboarding but being mr Nice Guy doesnt always pay the bills!

Chicks are just as good if not better than guyes- a different style.We all love to watch the female riders! Just bring them on their own level-not up with the boys cause we all knoew the muscles are different!

this year at the snowcentre rail jam in kune mens 1st took 2k... meanwhile 1st for the ladies scored a t-shirt and a hat. wow now isn't that just a bit insulting.

Im pretty sure the mountain would be a dull place without the babes up there shreaddin! .. Also hellraiser I could name alot of guys tht love watchin girls carve it up,,.i dont think i could handle watchin girls all day,, ,, jst for the mere fact of not havin views of different styles riders have... i think you need to get out of the stoneage and spend some quality time with chicks, and see how they really shred unless you jst LOVE the sausage..

Well it just so happens I have had the great fortune and pleasure to snowboard with quite a few of NZs top women snow sliders over the years and it is fucking awesome. Great for your self esteem when some chick is keener to hit the jump than you are! haha. In all seriousness though I have been witness to girls fucking ripping on snowboard and it is awesome. Stepping to back country booters and lines that make you shit your pants. Girls are ripping. The fact is that 99% of snowboard humans would rather watch guys in comps shred because they are probably going to rip harder. When chicks start doing death sized swack nines then hook em up equal prize money, there will be no exuse not too. Until then at least give them better prize money because they deserve it!

Id have to agree that its not fair that the women get f***ed when it comes to the prizes compared to the guys.

When women compete for the pure love of the sport and get s*** rewards for all their hard work it doesnt encourage other women watching to get into the sport, let alone the comps because in the long run it dusnt pay off as well as other sports for women.

The guy comps have more riding on a gud run so there is more pressure and more of a pay off. Its more interesting watching people put everthing they have into a run because of the high stakes reward compared to whos going to win the shirt. Lets face it no on gives a s*** who wins a shirt!!

Its not about talent cuz im sure that alot of people also have mates who could out do alot of the guys on the slopes. It is however all about business, its not personal. If the company and sponsers aren't going to benefit or make money then theres no way any smart business would be bothered with it.

I think that us women say f**k it and continue riding cuz its fun.

One of my girlfriends just completed a half iron man and she didn't get paid !!!
It may be a shock to you but she did it cause she loves it.
Girls don't get inspired by money to take up snowboarding.
Girls get inspired by Annie Bollinger sending it off a massive cliff or Marie-France Roy hitting some gnarly street rail or Victoria Jelouise with some crazy alaskan line.
