Hi just wondering if anyone out there can help me....
I want to buy some Ride bindings as a prezzie, I've been recommended to buy Ride Alpha Mvmnt but Im having some trouble sourcing these in New Zealand. Can anyone suggest something (within the Ride brand) that is the most similar to these? I've looked at the NRc type and read a few good reviews - can anyone comment on these?
Cheers :)

Thanks for your comment but if I hadnt already tried those avenues you wouldnt be seeing my post on here.
Im pretty new to boarding and I dont know a lot about it so its difficult for me to find a set of bindings that are similar or just as good as the Alpha's. I have asked a few suppliers (that I contacted off the Ride NZ site) and they dont seem very helpful. There are no shops that supply snow gear in my town so I cant just ask them either.
Thats why I posted comment on here - hoping I would get some helpful advice from people who have been boarding for a while.
Anyone else got any recommendations or knowledge about Rides range?
Cheers :)

Hayz. A store or a website was a legitimate first step but I apologize I didn't give more positive advice.
maybe if you had said "i have been all on the website and rung all the stores but no one could help" then I wouldn't have had to 'try' to direct you in the right path.
my bad

What town are you in Hayz? And are these a present for yourself or someone else?
I have Ride's SPi bindings and love them. They are all terrain freestyle bindings, I've ridden them on park and powder and they perform well for me. I am no expert when it comes to bindings though, so I can really only give you a few pointers on where to look.
The alphas seem to be top of the line bindings for ride in freestyle, which is why I wonder about who they are for? If you aren't big on park you might be looking into something different. The NRc looks pretty similar anyway.
I know board factory in wellington do ride as that's where I got mine. It may pay to email or call round some of the ride dealers who aren't in your town and ask them how much it would be to get them in and ship to you. You can also check out online sites that ship internationally and do the conversions to NZ monies and sometimes it may work out cheaper. www.dogfunk.com www.evogear.com etc
Another point about rides binding range is the toe cap - I have had mine a few years so maybe they had redesigned the toe strap, but mine always falls off. It's not anoying me, I find it easy enough to flick it back up and tighten it during a run. But may just pay to check the bindings with your boots, as you should do anyway, that you can make the toe cap fit snug over the toe if you are concerned. It's something that a lot of people find out once they have them, so just a heads up.

If you want the Ride Alpha bindings these stores stock them:
Gordons Boardfactory Wellington
Gordons Taupo
Vertigo New Plymouth
Ballistic Auckland
Boardfactory also have some 2010 Ride bindings.
If you are new to snowboarding the Alpha binding may not be the one that is best suited to you needs. Please talk to your a Ride dealer for more info.

Sorry people, I should have been a bit clearer - they are a present for my partner. Im new to boarding but he had been doing it for years.
I talked to a guy that works for Dogfunk in the US and he recommended the Alpha's coz they are the most similar to the Ride Team bindings which is what my partner has currently (and loves). The only problem with buying Ride overseas is that they arent allowed to ship them out of their own country and I dont know anybody in US who can forward them to me from over there.
I've emailed many different Ride suppliers and nobody seems to have the Alpha's so I am in the process of trying to find something similar/suitable that is easily sourced in New Zealand. I know the different types of Ride bindings but all the technical stuff is just gobbledegook to me, the beginner that I am! :)
Thanks for your comments/advice so far though - awesome.

Hello again Hayz,
I am keen to help you one this one.
Like I said on my first post you can buy the Ride Alpha bindings from the stores I listed. If you cannot find contact details for these shops I can send you these email address and phone numbers.
The closest 2009 Ride binding to the old team binding is actually the Ride SPi which most Ride dealers in NZ stock. If your partner wants a carbon reinforced high back the Alpha has that feature and so does the CAD.
Cheers

if you were determined on them, you could go through a US shop instead of online dealer... I think that would get around the international shipping thing, or go Canadian - Can they ship here? Even oz come to think of it.
But as the man above has said - Check those stores if you haven't already, they may have some or be able to ship them in for you.
If your partner is into park then I think the Beta MVMNT might be next best, as the NRc is more closley related to the SPi's and not the Alphas, But I am unsure what the teams are like so they could be worse. It may pay to get an opinion on his current bindings compared to Betas and Alphas to make sure you're not actually heading in the wrong direction of performance.

just call up my store (the board Factory) and we can take payment over the phone and ship them to you. We have both the 2009 and 2010 alpha bindings. The 2010 have a wedgie footbed which has canting on it however they are slightly more

Hey thanks patchy, but after talking to several different people I have now changed tack and I think I'll get him the SPI.
Was just browsing the web and saw the 2010 SPI's and man they are cool! Do you have any of them in stock?

Wicked! I reckon the 2010 look heaps better than the 2009.
Im really interested in the 2010 SPI's, can you give me a price for them?
I would prefer the black 2010 if you are able to source them? His birthday is at the start of September so if you think you can get them in anytime before then I'd probably go with the black instead of chrome.
Im not sure what if he would need a L or a XL - I had a sneaky look at his boots and they say 11.5-12US.
Awesum dude, thanks so much for your help :-)

for that size boot you'd need a size xl in the bindings. We only have the silver in size large. I'll see if I can get hold of some but not looking likely unfortunately. sorry man. also they retail for around $500 NZD

Ah bummer, when does the new season stock usually get released? Early next year?
If you can get some for me that'd be awesome, I'd definitely take them - I found them on that link posted above but the only reason Im hesitant to order from US is warranty reasons.
If you do manage to get some can you contact me at stormy_weather_@hotmail.com or 021 408 813. I dont mean to be pushy but I really would like to get something sorted in the next few weeks in case the 2009 SPI's sell out and I cant get those either! :-)
Cheers dude,
Hayley
