We struggled to find affordable and good extreme sport medical insurance coverage when we went overseas last season. I spent a long time seeking out this information so I want to share it with everyone.

- the one we used (which paid out in full with no money out of our pocket even at the hospital)
-and a list of the companies that don't cover snowboarders :(

my understanding of the policy i used last year with house of travel was: im not covered for off piste riding, But usa defines offpiste as outside of ski area not just ungroomed snow so wasnt an issue. correct me if this is not right?

I am not an insurance person, just a writer (and I needed this insurance last season). I talked with a hospital in Colorado and they told me that many policies will only cover you on trail. I think the definition would come from your insurance policy, not the ski field. (Just my opinion)

checked my policy for this year and i was on the money. Off piste is defined as outside of ski area boundaries in the usa. Would be useful for europe though
