Jeep cancels Snowboard Tour

24th November 2008

Ketchum, ID - Financial troubles plaguing the American automotive industry have claimed another casualty, this time the 48Straight ski and snowboard tour.

In a cost-cutting measure, title sponsor Jeep has withdrawn its support from 48Straight, a three-stop competition and music festival series billed as "the loudest show on snow" that was scheduled this winter for Telluride, Squaw Valley and Sun Valley as the reincarnation of The Ski Tour.

"What sad news for the event," event spokesperson Al Sommers acknowledged this week. "It's pretty much that with Jeep not being able to sponsor the event, hosting the winter season isn't economically feasible."

Sommers indicated that no decisions had been made regarding the future of the event series.
