Treble Cone announce further savings for local residents

25th February 2009

Treble Cone announced today further benefits and savings for local Otago residents this winter, with very affordable snow sport programmes and free access to the lower mountain.

For the first time in Treble Cones history, the lower mountain learner lifts will be accessible at no charge all season long.  This includes the Nice n Easy Platter and Magic Carpet which are located beside the ski area base lodge. Fees still apply for those who require hire equipment, lessons and chairlift access to the upper mountain.

Marketing Manager Anna Thomas says the new service is a great benefit for local families and for learner skiers and snowboarders.  Learning to ski and ride has never been more affordable at Treble Cone.

Another new benefit offered for the first time is a free Season Pass for local youth enrolling in Treble Cones popular snow sport programmes.  These 6-10 week programmes include the popular Riders & Sliders or TC Free Riders.

Riders & Sliders is a 6 week programme for kids aged 6-12 years and aims to teach children new skiing or riding skills, explore new terrain in a safe teaching environment and most of all have fun on the snow with friends. Priced at $325, kids will ride and slide in groups of similar age and ability, with the same instructor every Sunday for 6 weeks from July 26th to August 30th.

The TC Free Rider programme is a 10 week programme for youth 13-17 years who wish to progress in the dynamic sport of free skiing and riding. The programme goals and focus includes big mountain, freestyle, steep skiing and riding, off piste, bumps and racing. Priced at $680, the programme starts 25 July and requires a commitment of 10 weekends.

Bookings must be made by 31 May to secure the free season pass option or full season pass rates will apply.

Snow Sports Manager Guenther Birgmann says these popular programmes which run each Sunday for kids are hugely successful.  Feedback from past participants shows that young skiers and riders enjoyed extended their skiing and riding skills enormously over the duration of the programme. Their progression and confidence skiing and riding all terrain at Treble Cone in a fun environment was hugely notable.
