 Several projects are underway ahead of the 2009 snow season at The Remarkables ski area, and all are aimed at making it more fun both on and off the slopes.

Riders and skiers will find the ground level of the base building fully renovated with bigger and better childrens facilities and a more efficient, easier to access Guest Services department.
 
Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager for The Remarkables said guests would enjoy improved flow throughout the base building.
 
Weve worked with the space to reorganise some of the departments to create more room for the kids and better flow for all guests from entry into Guest Services then onto the snow.
 
Were a family focused mountain so weve invested in our childrens facilities so more families can enjoy this alpine environment. Our Skiwiland Early Learning Centre can now look after children from as young as three months. The childrens facilities will complement our dedicated beginners area and Snowsports School and all children aged 10 and under receive a free day lift pass.
 
Weve also got some superb holiday programmes lined up including the new Kruiser Squad programme for young skiers and boarders. These programmes are great for kids of all ability levels up to 17 years old.
 
Two new snow groomers will be added to the existing fleet and will add to the quality of groomed terrain for riders and skiers.  One of the new machines has specialized equipment to help build and maintain the park system
 
We have fantastic terrain parks at The Remarkables creating a real progression from novice through to advanced levels.  This groomer will help us keep those parks ship shape!
 
Skiers and riders who buy full day passes, multiday passes and combo packs for The Remarkables will also benefit from the ski areas free transport service. Those passes include free return transport from the Snow Centre in Queenstown to the base facilities of The Remarkables. Departures from other designated Queenstown locations or for those who have not purchased one of the day passes will cost only $10.
 
Were very keen to get people using our efficient and comfortable coach system. It makes environmental sense to use one engine to transport 44 people as opposed to 44 engines each transporting one person, said Mr Lawrence.
 
Those who choose to drive the ski areas access road will find new barriers in place along the road. This initiative, over 3.6kms in the first year, will deliver an improved sense of comfort to those not familiar with driving on New Zealands mountain roads.
