Photo story from The Remarkables

Two feathered residents of The Remarkables take shelter from the cold and snow in the ski areas newly expanded Skiwiland Early Learning Centre.

Shred the Kea and Spike the Kiwi, who will call The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and Mt Hutt home this winter, were testing out the brightly-coloured new childrens facilities before season opening on 20 June.

Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager for The Remarkables, said Skiwiland would be the perfect welcoming environment for families and youngsters.

Weve got lots of cool new stuff for the little ones and Skiwiland is now licensed to look after infants from as young as three months, he said.

Mr Lawrence said The Remarkables was a family focused mountain and the investment in bigger and better facilities reflected that commitment.

The childrens facilities will compliment our all day programs which cater for the young members of the family and our dedicated beginners area, with its three surface conveyor lifts and Snowsports School.

Weve also got some fun holiday programmes lined up this season including the new Kruiser Squad programme for young skiers and boarders, great for kids aged from six up to 17 years old.
