Pupils from a number of primary schools in Queenstown took time out from the classroom today to learn about whats new for kids at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables this season.

Spike the Kiwi and his pal Shred the Kea, snowsports mascots for the ski areas, visited several schools in the Queenstown area in the build up to season opening next month.

Matt Lazell, Childrens Snowsports Manager, said the children had lots of fun with their feathered friends.

Spike and Shred will be hanging out at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables as well as in downtown Queenstown this year and wanted to invite the kids up the mountain for a great season in the snow with new and improved facilities and fun programmes for all ages and abilities.

The visits were part of NZSkis commitment to keeping the ski areas accessible to Queenstowns youngest community members, he said.

Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are scheduled to open on Saturday 6 June and Saturday 20 June respectively.
