K2 North Island Secondary Schools Event Info

There are over three hundred competitors representing sixty Schools, from Wellington to Kerikeri, entered in the thirteenth annual K2 North Island Secondary Schools Snowboard competition, at Turoa ski field, 21 - 23 September.

Competitions on day one will be: the Dual Giant Slalom and the Slope Stye. Racers compete against the clock, adding their times together, from runs through two different courses. There is an opportunity to race against team mates or rival schools!
The Slope Style event is a judged run through the Medium Terrain Park, performing jumps and tricks, over rails, boxes and jumps. The Boardercross event on day two, places four riders together in the starting gates, on the same course of banked corners and roll overs. The last two racers are eliminated from each round. It is an exciting event for both competitors and spectators. Teams have been training throughout the season, including local school, Taupo-nui-a-Tia, who are defending the Boys title and were fifth in the Girls, in 2008.
