SNOWBOARDING IN AUCKLAND CBD

27th July 2010

AUTs Wellesley Street campus will be transformed into a snowboard Mecca for the AuSM Rail King SnowBoard Jam, as part of AuSM's Winter Fest re-orientation programme.

AuSM (Auckland Student Movement at AUT) has teamed up with FTB Snowboarding to bring the one-time invitational snowboarding exhibition to Auckland City.

FTB has been gaining a reputation for its street jams including the Taka Throw Down on Takapuna Beach, which saw thousands of spectators turn out to catch a glimpse of the action.

Utilizing the gladiatorial arena of Hikuwai Plaza, 20 of New Zealand's top up and coming snowboarders will do battle in a two-hour jam session.

With an engineered structure from Camelspace towering above the courtyard and 10 tonnes of snow!
the stage is set for a showdown of momentous proportions.

Boarders will be "competing" for the honour of the crowd and claim to the AuSM Rail King title. Less sort after, will be the Kings&Fools nomination of Rail Jester given for the worst slam or wipeout on the night.

Expect to see some technical combos from the up-and-coming youngsters and some solid hammers from the old dogs.

Massive crowd giveaways from the best snowboarding brands NITRO, STOMP NZ, SNOWCENTRE, 32, and RED BULL

The AuSM Snow Jam will erupt at 5pm and be followed by an after-party at AUT's own Vesbar, with music from Red Bull DJs.

The Snow Jam is free and open to the public.
