$10m Spend At The Canyons, UT, USA
18th December 2006
The Canyons Resort at Park City, Utah has made over $10 million worth of improvements and new features both on the mountain and within the resort in an on going effort to raise the bar of the ski vacation experience.Brand new this season, The Canyons will be opening 200+ acres serviced by a state of the art quad lift named DreamCatcher which will deliver skiers and boarders to pristine trails in new, never skied before Canyon?s territory. The additional acreage positions The Canyons as the largest in Utah and one of the largest ski resorts in North America.
Vice President of Marketing for The Canyons, Todd Burnette commented,
?It?s going to be mostly upper intermediate to expert terrain. We are doing some glading right now to open up some paths for some serious tree skiing. It?s all north-facing so the snow will hold there very well.?
One of the main arteries at The Canyons is the high-speed quad known as Tombstone Express. Because of Tombstones central location on the mountain it gets a tremendous amount of use. The improvements to the Tombstone lift will replace the high-speed quad with a high-speed six-pack chair and will increase uphill capacity by more than half. This upgrade will make everyone?s wait times much shorter during the busy times and keep riders and skiers on the trails, not in lines.
Additionally, the Cabriolet lift from the base parking lot to the Forum will get an extra 12 cabins greatly increasing the efficiency in which guests are transported from parking lot to slopes at the beginning of the day and back down at the end of the day. The new cabins will create a 46% increase in capacity.
