Travis Rice on Quiksilver
26th January 2007
Huntington Beach, CA?Quiksilver, the leading brand in boardriding, today announced that it signed snowboard icon Travis Rice to a multi-year apparel and accessories sponsorship deal. Travis, who also rides for DC and LibTech snowboards (both brands of Quiksilver, Inc. (NYSE:ZQK)), is one of today's most versatile and accomplished snowboarders and is a perfect match for the Quiksilver snowboard team.
From the top of the mountains in Alaska to the scaffolding jumps of Munich's Air and Style, the 24 year-old superstar has shown the world he is a force to be reckoned with. A top tier competitive rider with multiple X-Games medals, Travis has a great ability to transcend and lead in multiple disciplines which is a testament to both his personality and strength as a snowboarder. In 2006 alone, he took first place at the 2006 Air and Style with an unprecedented "double back flip back-side 180", with another first at the Tokyo Nissan X Trial after landing a "front-side double cork 1080."
Travis is also renowned for his creativity and relentless motivation as a filmmaker. He has channeled his passion for the mountains and the art of snowboarding into the production of his best-selling snowboard film "Community Project" and the upcoming "Shedding Light". Despite his non-stop travel schedule and the pressures of being a world-famous professional athlete, Travis remains a positive and inspiring role model for his fans.
Bob McKnight, CEO of Quiksilver, commented, "I am so amped to finally have Travis on the Quiksilver snow team. Travis emulates everything Quiksilver represents as a brand. He is a real mountain rider with great style. He is an icon, a great representative of boardriding, and he will, without a doubt, continue to shape the imaginations of young riders and the global youth culture as a whole. Travis has been in the family for a while. He rode for Rossignol back in the day. And we are excited to have him wearing Quiksilver along with his DC snowboard boots and LibTech boards."
Travis added, "I am truly excited about all the opportunities that lie ahead within this new found partnership with Quiksilver. I have had the great fortune of working with DC and LibTech and my amazing experiences with these brands give me full confidence in my decision to complete the Quik family circle. The resources, open mindedness and the general business philosophy of the company go hand-in-hand with my aspirations in snowboarding. I love to shred and appreciate the world wide community that shares that simple fact."
