Another Locals Weekend at Coronet Peak

12th February 2007

An inaugural Local?s Weekend last month at Coronet Peak Bike Park, where over 100 riders turned up each day, was so successful that it is to be repeated this coming weekend. So, if you are a local and have still not given it a try, this weekend (Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February), is your chance to see what all the excitement is about.

Coronet Peak is offering 2 for 1 multi-ride, day lift passes for Queenstown Lakes District residents only*. That equates to 50% off for adults and youth, with kids (6 and under) free for a full day of riding the Express chairlift. Complimentary pass is of the same or lesser value than the pass purchased.

Sightseeing passes are also available for $15 for an adult, $10 youths and kids 6 and under go free.

Operating hours are 11am to 7pm on both days.

Locals are invited to come along and ride either the downhill track (which has been described by Scarlett Hagen as being as good as anything in Europe), the downhill X Country for 4.2kms of wow, or the beginner option down the summer road - all with some of the most spectacular views in the country.

If freestyle is your thing, get into the mini park with jumps, berms, see-saws and balancing challenges.

There are a limited range of adult rental bikes on the mountain available through Outside Sports, however it is recommended people bring their own bikes.

The Coronet Brasserie will be open serving food and wine/beer, and a fun day is promised for the whole family.

* Queenstown Lakes District residents only. Proof of residency will be required together with photo ID.
