MAJOR DEVELOPMENT OF TERRAIN PARK AT THE REMARKABLES

26th February 2007

The Remarkables has enlisted one of the world?s top terrain park designers ? Frank Wells of Snow Park Technologies ? to assist with the layout and planning of the summer earthworks for the brand new UP & GO Terrain Park.

Snow Park Technologies is an American terrain park consulting company.  Earthworks are currently nearing completion in the lead up to construction of the Park for the 2007 winter season.

When the season opens, freestylers will be able to rampage in the redeveloped and enlarged Terrain Park, which boasts two 30m wide, benched jump and rail lines ? twice the size of the existing UP & GO Terrain Park.

The redesigned Terrain Park promises improved intermediate and advanced lines with easier shaping that requires less snow, thus ensuring top line jumps from the start of the season.  Riders and skiers will be blown away by the superior stage offering even more jumps and rails.

Eleven new automated snowmaking guns are also being installed in the terrain park to guarantee good park conditions from the start of the season.

A new Piston Bully PB600 snow groomer to complement the existing fleet of modern PB300 Winch and Park Bullies will ensure the park is consistently shaped and groomed to a high quality to allow riders to exhibit to their full potential.

Ski Area Manager for The Remarkables Hamish McCrostie says these new developments will attract both young and old freestylers and provide great spectator action.

?It?s exciting to see this area used to its full potential. We attract a young and active group of riders and skiers at The Remarkables and we aim to cater for this loyal market as much as possible. The new terrain park will also provide a fantastic venue for events and competitions during the 2007 winter season.?

The mountain will also benefit from continued replacement of its rental equipment, to ensure that guests are using the most up-to-date rental gear again this season.

The Remarkables is scheduled to open on June 23.
