NZ Programmer to Give Snow Sports Unprecedented Coverage
23rd May 2007
New Zealand snow sports will receive more media exposure than ever before with the announcement that Freeze TV will broadcast twenty weeks of programming throughout New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
Freeze TV is a fast-moving television series dedicated to alpine sports action now in its sixth season. As well as featuring major winter sports events it covers destinations throughout New Zealand and Australia and the personalities who make the winter sports industry happen, from professional athletes to entrepreneurs.
Freeze TV holds a new weekly prime Saturday spot on Prime TV throughout the winter season, as well as being broadcast to Sky Sports audiences between three and five times a week.
As well as New Zealand broadcasts, Freeze TV is also celebrating its fifth year broadcasting on Australia?s Fuel TV. Fuel is dedicated to the world of action sports, featuring top-level international sports athletes, events and competitions.
Fuel TV has also requested 20 weeks of programming featuring a minimum of 60 shows that will have the Aussie's itching to hit the slopes. Confirmation of a two year license with Fuel TV will see twenty new Freeze TV episodes incorporated into their 2008 winter calendar, not to mention the series repetition throughout the year.
For the first time in 2007 Freeze TV is available on all international
Air New Zealand flights and the series will be exported to Japan this
year as well.
Freeze TV creator and director, Antony Hansen said the new extended programming
would highlight the New Zealand perspective of snow sports by giving
Kiwi alpine sports a high profile media exposure throughout the world.
?We look to showcase the huge potential offered by the outstanding resorts in the Southern Hemisphere,? he said. ?The increased audience is fantastic for the profile of New Zealand?s winter sports industry. We are showing that New Zealand ski fields are fun for everyone, whatever their ability. With the increase in direct flights from Australia, our snow fields are so accessible and New Zealand is well on its way to becoming the winter backyard of Australia.?
Freeze TV is produced by Wanaka-based company Visual PhotoMedia and is sponsored by Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona Alpine Resort, Treble Cone, Mt Ruapehu and Perisher Blue.
