Freeze TV Episode 4 - Coming this week

19th July 2007

The mountains aren?t just for skiing and episode four of Freeze TV takes the armchair adventurer into the adrenalin-charged world of ice climbing. Just a 20 minute helicopter ride from New Zealand?s ski Mecca Wanaka, Black Peak is a picturesque and isolated location with spectacular ice flows perfect for ice climbing. The programme follows three novices as they discover a new past time that will inspire and motivate them for many years to come.

The first serious halfpipe competition of the season took place at Snow Park NZ last weekend and Freeze TV was there to capture the thrills and spills and speak to some of the winners as well as discuss the finer points of halfpipe construction with terrain park guru, Frank Wells.

The Australian season has had a great start with lots of the white fluffy stuff. Freeze TV heads to Perisher Blue to check out what?s happening across the Tasman.

Continuing on from last week?s ski boot buying guide, Freeze TV pays a visit to one of Treble Cone?s ski demo days to try out the latest gear and hear what the industry experts have to say about the recent advancements in ski technology.

One of the world?s biggest ski events is the Interski conference when instructors from across the globe join forces for a spectacular night of demonstration skiing. Each team is made up of the country?s best instructors displaying breathtaking and risky synchronised skiing. Freeze TV travelled to Korea to see the New Zealand and Australian teams sport their stuff with a super fast choreographed piece in a night to be remembered.

Freeze TV airs on Wednesdays at 7.30pm on Sky Sport 2, followed by Thursdays at 9.30pm on Sky Sport 1 and Prime TV on Saturday at 12.30pm. Australian viewers also get in on the action when the programme airs on Fuel TV. It is also the winter programme of choice on the Air New Zealand international network as well as on Freedom Air.

Freeze TV is produced by Wanaka-based company Vizual PhotoMedia and is sponsored by Holden, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona Alpine Resort, Treble Cone, Mt Ruapehu, Perisher Blue, Icebreaker, Volkl and ROJO.
