Hot Field for the New Zealand Snow Boarder Magazine Banked Slalom at Treble Cone

A huge crew was drawn to Treble Cone yesterday (26 July) with the promise of a blue bird day, new snow and loads of prizes for the New Zealand Snowboarder Banked Slalom. A field of 59 men and 15 women riders carved their way through an off piste modified banked slalom course. The competitors were in high spirits and laid down super fast times, ensuring there was steep competition for the chance to win the title of New Zealand Snowboarder Banked Slalom Champion.

Taking out the female competition was in third place the reigning champion, Amber Schuecker from Tasmania (44.58sec), in second, Maria Kusma (44.06sec) and blitzing the competition to take out the honors of female champion with a fastest run of 42.59sec was Wanaka's own, Julianne Bray.

The guys were fighting for not only title of champion, but also for the Jamie Lynn 157 Dragon. In third place was local man Will Jackaways with 40.58sec, second was Rich Hunt with 40.11 and taking out first place was Hotham (Australia) rider Marcus Wehrle at 40sec flat.

Only smiles were to be seen after the free Corona?s and loads of prizes and spot prizes were handed out from sponsors LIB Technologies, anon, R.E.D, Huffer, Corona products and cash from NZ Snowboarder.
