New Zealand's Juliane Bray takes on the World's Top 3 Women Snowboarders
6th August 2007

At the first ever Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup in New Zealand, our very own Juliane Bray will take on the world?s top three women snowboarders.
Manuela Pesko (Switzerland), Holly Crawford (Australia), and Paulina Ligocka (Poland) were first, second and third in the world in the 2006/7 season. Juliane Bray was eighth in the world and has tasted half pipe success a year ago when she was second in the World Cup at Leysen in Switzerland. Although Pesko was first at that event, Bray beat Crawford and Ligocka.
?I believe I have a real chance of winning the Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup in a few weeks time. I?ve got close before and know that if I?m on my game I can achieve a first for New Zealand?, says Bray.
The event will be a male and female snowboard half pipe is on 31 August ? 1 September, 2007 at Cardrona Alpine Resort.
Prize money of NZ$58,000 will be on offer for the top athletes not to mention earning crucial FIS points for their world ranking. F?d?ration Internationale de Ski (International Ski Federation or ?FIS?) is the official world body for snow sports events. Points won on the official circuit lead to an annual world champion and are critical for qualification to the Winter Olympic Games in 2010.
