EVENT INFO: K2 North Island Secondary Schools Snowboard competition at Turoa 17 - 19 September

The K2 North Island Secondary Schools Snowboard competition starts st Turoa Ski
Field on Monday 17 through to Wednesday 19 September. Competitor numbers have
again increased to 350 from a range of 60 schools from throughout the North
Island, making it the largest snowboard event in New Zealand.

Slope Style and Dual Giant Slaloms start on Monday with Bordercross on Tuesday.
Wednesday will be used if needed. Unfortunately, the 2006 Champion in all three
disciplines, Rebecca Sinclair from Nga Tawa School in Marton will not get to
defend her titles this year after a recent knee injury, but the current World
Youth Half Pipe Champion has two more years as she is only in Year 11.


James Hamilton

Favourite for the Boys titles will again be James Hamilton from Rangitoto
College. James recently placed 6th in the Burton NZ Open Slope Style against a
host of overseas professional riders.
