NZ SKATE: Porirua Skatecomp 2008 Friday 15th, Feb 2008

10th February 2008

The annual Porirua skatecomp 2008 will be at the Porirua Skatepark on Friday 15th February.

Organisers Porirua City Council are delighted to be working closely with a number of skateshops and skatebrands including Fusion, Surf, Skate and Cheapskates and DVS and Manual Magazine on this community event.

The purse on offer for the open event is $1500. Last years joint winner, Porirua skater Bennett Field will be back to defend his title. Since securing the competition last year he was runner-up in the New Zealand Skatboarding championships in Auckland. As well as the open section the competition will have under 10 and under 16 sections, and if there is a demand a girls section.

It is hoped that a number of world class bowl skaters will be present as they are in the Wellington region for a similar competion the following day in Wellington.

The skatecomp will kick off at 4.30pm with a learn to skate session. Followed by all the competitions. Spectators and all levels of skaters welcome. For more information please contact Paul Assur, Recreation Programmer on 0211681252 or 042373811.
