Mt Hutt Village, Methven -  Mt Hutt Helicopters and the Brown Pub in Mt Hutt Village, Methven are launching Sunday Sessions, a new initiative for the 2008 season which will bring a regular DJ night to the ski resort for holiday makers and locals as well as a chance to qualify for and book discounted heli-skiing trips. 

Sunday Sessions will be held every Sunday at the Brown Pub from 7.30pm during the ski season which runs from June 14th to October.  Resident DJ Nacoa from Christchurch will be spinning the decks to provide a mix of Nu Jazz Dub Fusion through to Break Beats and Drum n Bass for thirsty skiers and boarders looking for a night out with more of a beat.

As well as building the social calendar in Methven, Sunday Sessions will give patrons the opportunity to validate drinking loyalty cards into discount vouchers for heli-skiing trips on a Monday*.  The three local heli-ski operators, Mt Hutt Helicopters, Southern Alps Heliski and Methven Heliski, have collaborated to offer suitable terrain for all ski/boarding abilities and budgets.   Heli-skiing trips start at $155 per person for a one run option from Mt Hutt ski field through to more challenging full day packages with either Southern Alps Heliski or Methven Heliski. 

Trev Den Baars, Landlord at the Brown Pub, says Im really excited about offering this option during the ski season, although Methven is a good night out, having a regular dance night with known DJs will be putting us on the map.   Jenny Davey from Mt Hutt Helicopters adds This season we really want to show the ski and snowboard community how much great heli-ski terrain there is in the Canterbury region and get the message across that heli-skiing isnt only for the rich and famous, any one that can do a blue run can heli-ski.  Its fantastic that the guys at Southern Alps Heli-Ski and Methven Heli-Ski have come on board with this promotion as it means there will be a thrilling experience to suit everyone.
