Fresh snow, amped crew in the lead up to Mt Hutt opening
8th June 2008
A southerly storm has dropped 25 30 centimetres of fresh snow on the slopes of Mt Hutt in the lead up to the ski areas Saturday June 14 opening.
Ski Area Manager Dave Wilson says the wintry blast has transformed Mt Hutt, Methven and surrounding areas into a winter wonderland.
Looking out from our high country ski area onto the plains below is just awesome. Weve got a good 25 + cms dumped on an existing 30cm base which looks good for opening from the summit on day 1.
Snowmaking has been underway at the ski area for the past two weeks and is expected to continue over the next few days.

Weve got several new guns fired up and expect good snowmaking conditions over the next couple of days.
Approximately 250 staff will be training this coming week in preparation for opening on Saturday.
We have a very excited and happy crew, Methven is looking like a winter playground and everyones amped for the start of the season.
