The Changing Face of Snow Reports
30th June 2008
Popular winter website www.snowreports.co.nz was relaunched this week, with a focus on personalisation for users seeking up-to-date snow reports from their favourite ski areas. The site, which is in its 8th season, now features a new offering for the ski community called mySnowReports.
mySnowReports aims to personalise the site for each visitor, automatically saving the preferred ski area report as the visitors homepage. Skiers and snowboarders can also enjoy updated reports direct to their mobile with Mobile Reports, upload photos of their adventures to share on the website and subscribe to weekly updates and deals from New Zealands ski areas.
The revamped site offers new webcam technology, the latest ski area news and events, trail maps, driving directions and five day weather forecasts, so skiers know when and where to go.
Created by Christchurch website design and technology company Cabbage Tree Creative, www.snowreports.co.nz will also feature desktop reports later this season.
Cabbage Tree Creative CEO Lawrence Smith says, Theres little advertising on the site. This is purely a website that meets skiers needs for quick, accurate information about their favourite ski fields. That might include finding out how much a ticket costs, or finding a place to stay nearby. Weve got it all.
The site also offers feature articles on skiing and boarding, with topics such as day pass discounts, kids skiing and choosing a 4WD. Coming up in July is an article on heli skiing.
As an incentive, every person signing up to mySnowReports goes into a draw to win a new Apple iPod Touch.
